Fundraising:
The group discussed the Valentine’s Day event. Kristi suggested that Ed talk with the owners and suggest that this event be held prior to the actual holiday next time.
Old Business:
- Ed stated that the $2306.00 from the old chapter account should be in our account by the end of the month.
- Chapter Chatter: No one showed up, will try again March 22. The topic is “Media Platforms”. Phoenix mentioned the option of using Zoom, and she went on to say that this is a social event with no strict rules.
- Bowling in April or May: Possible joint event with the local NFB chapter, or MSDB, or just our chapter members.
- Activities with the SOP students: The group discussed having a picnic with the students in the large gazebo at the Ursuline Center on one of the weekends. Obtaining donations of food from a local pizza or chicken place was suggested. Another possibility is a tour of the Black Eagle Dam.
- Chapter Outings: Phoenix suggested that near the Cinco de Mayo holiday the chapter go to the Taco Treat Amigo Lounge for tacos. Members would pay $10.00 and the chapter would pickup the rest of the cost. Julie mentioned the possibility of a base fee to reserve the space. Ed said that he would talk to the restaurant regarding the menu. The members could bring one guest each. Phoenix commented “No alcohol, please”.
New Business:
Shyla Patera gave a presentation regarding the current events surrounding Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act. She stated that Rally Day is March 19th at 11AM in Helena. After the presentation, Kristi suggested that the Roe River Chapter compose a letter and gather our stories of how Section 504 impacted our lives, and send it to Attorney General Austin Knudsen. Ed mentioned it would need to be cleared with Jocelyn.
