successful efforts like phone outreach and bake sales, discussing a “Dining in the Dark” event with a silent auction, planning convention door prizes, and agreeing that education classes would be valuable with more discussion to follow. The next meeting was scheduled for September 20 at 11 AM, and the meeting adjourned around 12 PM.

Meeting Minutes – August 9

  • Call to Order: 11:01 AM, by President Ed Worrell

Roll Call

  • In Person: Ed Worrell, Becky Worrell, Jessica Trumpower, Morris Miller, Patti Howse, Angela Tabb, Wava Goetz, Kristi Eagle Horse
  • On Zoom: Joseph Fochs, Chris Broadhurst, Phoenix Robinson, Satin LaRance, Kathy Reed

Approval of Previous Minutes

  • April: Jessica motioned for approval, Kristi seconded, approved.
  • May: No minutes (group met at Taco Treat).
  • June: No meeting.
  • July: Meeting held at SOP (presentation format); no minutes.

Treasury Report

  • Becky read the report.
  • Patti motioned for approval; Jessica seconded. Report approved.
  • Ed shared that John Lindell donates $100 per month. The group agreed to send a thank you and present a chapter award.

Old Business

  • Convention Update:
    • Convention dates: Sept. 12–14.
    • Consensus: RRC will help members who need support paying the $50 registration fee.
    • Action item: Create a list of members needing assistance.
    • Outreach: Ed, Phoenix, and Kristi.
  • Chapter Materials:
    • Agreement: Chapter handouts should be specific to the Roe River Chapter.
    • Suggestion: Create a bi-fold pamphlet for doctors to hand out.
    • Pamphlet should include a QR code linking to the chapter website and include resources/referrals (BLVS, MAB, SOP, etc.).
    • Need a working group to decide messaging and content.
    • Plan: Two versions of the pamphlet—one for professionals and one for patients.
    • Volunteers: Angela, Chris, and Kathy to assist with pamphlets/handouts.

New Business

  • Upcoming Events:
    • Phoenix shared that member phone calls helped with fundraising in the past.
    • The Christmas bake sale worked well.
    • Suggestion: Next year at the car show, hold the bake sale outside.
    • New Event Idea – Dining in the Dark:
      • Sighted participants dine wearing blindfolds; RRC members serve.
      • Silent auction nearby; Patti agreed to lead the auction.
      • Committee volunteers: Phoenix, Jessica, Angela, Ed, and Kristi.
  • Door Prizes for Convention: Four $25 envelopes and two $50 envelopes.
  • Education Classes: Group agreed these would be very helpful; more discussion to come.
